Take me out to the Ball Game

We had Carter play Little League Baseball this Spring.  He loved every minute of it.  His team actually took second out of the eight teams in his league, so to be on a usually winning team certainly helped with his loving the sport. haha
Here are some pictures I took from one of the games.  There are ton more, especially ones from his tournament when he won a trophy, but they are still on the camera.  There's enough pictures now anyways.  Carter usually played shortstop, first base, and right out field. One game, however, they gave him the opportunity to play pitcher.  These pictures are from that day.

Swimming fun

When we sold our house, we were fortunate enough to be able to move into a friend's rental for May and June.  This rental home had a neighborhood pool that was just down the street. Oh baby, we swam at the pool every moment we had.  The kids had so much fun walking to this pool.  It wasn't ever busy, and because of the nice kiddie pool, I was able to keep my eye on Derrick while sitting in the shade with Perry.  Miss those times!!
These pictures are from a time when our good friends, the Hunsakers, came to join us.

Pinewood Derby Champion!!!!

Carter had his very first Pinewood Derby in May!  Bo was working a ton in May trying to get all his requirements done so he could complete residency, and since he didn't have any time to help Carter, and I was busy being a practically single mom of 4, I called in reinforcements to help Carter out.
My brother Ivin is really REALLY into Pinewood Derbies.  It's his hobby.  And since Ivin is good at pretty much everything he does, I knew he would be able to help Carter make a pretty darn good car.  SO I called up Ivin, and Carter and I got to talking with him about what to do/ what we wanted.  Ivin pretty much hooked us up. He asked Carter if he wanted a fast car, or a fancy car.  Carter chose fast. :)  Ivin cut one out, put the weights on/in, and mailed us a car.
Bo had one morning off before Carter's derby, so we pulled Carter out of school (yes, yes we did) and Carter and Bo sanded and then painted his car.
The night of the Derby I loaded up the kids, yes Bo was working, and we headed off, all a bundle of nerves.  Okay, maybe just me.  Carter was so excited.  Race after race after race Carter won.  He lost maybe two of his races (due to the third lane), but after it was all said and done, his had the best score and beat almost all the others by a good car's length.  BooYah!!!!  Carter was thrilled.  And I had my proud mom moment that night when Carter chose not to brag or gloat AT ALL about his winning car.  He was just thrilled to be there.
It was fun, and we can't wait for next year's!!  We'll get to actually be with Ivin and have a more hands on experience in cutting it out.  And we'll have a new ward to beat. hahahaa. ;)

Another Zoo day!!

Summer Loving means lot of ZOO time!!!!  This time we went with our good friends, the Hansens.  I miss that family so much.  The animals were really active this time, so that was fun.
And of course, at the end of this post I threw in a picture of Perry.  That baby is growing too fast.  He is such a sweet, happy-go-lucky baby.

The Chinese Exhibit at the Children's Museum

Knowing that we were going to be leaving the Children's Museum and Zoo for good, the last couple of weeks before leaving Indianapolis was spent going to those places as much as possible.
Right before we left they opened a new exhibit, Take Me There China.  Since our good friends, the Humphreys, were leaving Indy with us, we joined up to go to this exhibit. The kids had tons of fun checking out the new things.  I think I might have even pulled Carter out of school for this. :)
