Babysitting

So this past week I have been babysitting. As mentioned in the previous post, my sister-in-law Bridget came to visit with her son, Eli. She left to go spend some time with her mom in Houston, and then this past week from Sunday to Saturday she and my brother Whitney went to Peru to do some sightseeing, and her mom and I split up the time watching Eli. I had him from Tuesday to Friday.

My mom flew into town late Tuesday night to help too. It's been really fun, but busy and tiring. I've had no time for my naps, much less time to blog. Sorry to all those who faithfully check my blog.

Eli was a good baby, but between him and Carter, well man... it was busy. Eli was a little sick Wednesday, and then Carter wasn't feeling well Thursday. By Friday Carter was getting really sick of Eli. He was super emotional from being sick the day before and hence very territorial. He would even get upset if I tried feeding Eli a bottle. If there is one thing I cannot handle, it's whiney kids, and Carter was B A D !!!

Eli left Friday afternoon, and my mom is still in town hanging out. She'll be here till Wednesday. She might extend her ticket, but we haven't decided for sure on that yet. My mom has been a little sick with a headache, so we haven't been able to do much yet, but we have high hopes. Last night we went out to eat at this seafood place in town. It was really good.

For some reason I have been craving crab legs and lobster lately. WHY?? Now I know I can't have much pregnant, but seeing as this will be a one time thing, last night I spoiled myself and got snow crab. Mmmm mmm. I have tons leftover because it takes awhile to open those suckers up, so I get to have more today.

So that is what I've been up to. Carter hasn't been sleeping good the past few days either, which means I'm past exhaustion with no naps and not good night sleep. On the bright side, Carter went to the Dr.'s on Wednesday and they said his hand was good enough to take the brace off. YAY! They said it's not completely healed, but that it was healing and past the point of permanent damage, so the lucky kid can take off the brace. It was great news, especially since Carter had just learned how to take his brace off and WOULD NOT keep it on those last two days.

Oh yeah, and apparently his blood work came back from having it taken a couple of weeks ago, and he's anemic, and mine came back from an appoinment earlier this week and my thyroid is acting up some more (I have Hypothyroidism). Go team.

So that's it!

Easter!

Okay, so I wrote this last Tuesday (the 25th), I just never posted it because I wanted to attach pictures with it. So here's what I wrote then.

Last week my sister in law, Bridget, came to visit with her son, Eli, who's 9 mo.'s old. They came Wednesday ( the 19th) and stayed till Saturday (22nd). It was really fun having them over and going out with them. I'm so bad though, I didn't take any pictures.

Saturday morning our ward had an Easter party. We had breakfast and then did this huge Easter egg hunt. You wouldn't believe how many eggs there were. Seriously. Easter was fun this year because Carter actually got into it. He LOVED finding the eggs and got really excited when I told them Easter bunny was coming. Too cute.

Sunday I was really proud of myself. I wanted to make the boys a really good Easter breakfast, so I made homemade cinnamon rolls!!! Oh baby they were good. This was my first time ever. I used the bread maker to make the dough, so it was actually pretty easy. Now normally I don't like cinnamon rolls, but let me tell you, these babies were GOOD. Now that you are all salivating. . . let me tell you about our dinner. Ohhhhhh. I made potato salad which was good, but Bo made the BEST BBQ baby back ribs on our grill. Delish! We had some friends over to enjoy the meal too, and they brought they fruit and beans. It was a great day.

Oh yeah, Carter got to do another Easter Egg hunt on Sunday at a friends, not to mention he had one the previous Wednesday at the Library. 3 Easter egg hunts. The lucky kid.

Bo and Carter's camping trip

Here are some pictures of the camping trip the boys took last weekend. Apparently it was really windy all night so Carter didn't sleep at all, which of course meant that neither did Bo. I did though, in my nice big empty bed all to myself :)
They had fun but I guess Carter would not listen to Bo for the life of him. I guess he kept wandering off, mostly to go play by the beach. Because they were up nice and early Bo got some really pretty pictures of the sunrise.

More pictures from trip to Temple

Polly emailed me these pictures she took of Carter's and my trip to Temple. Thanks Polly!

This is Lindsay's family and me and Carter. Left to Right, Ron, Grant, Lindsay, Jay, Me, Carter.

My good friends Santino and Polly! It was so fun hanging out with them!! Santino is a tight High School friend and Polly was actually in my ward and neighbor at BYU!

I love that Ron is in the background. So Ron.

The Doctor was WRONG

Yep, the Doctor was wrong. I'm not pregnant. JUST KIDDING. There really was a wrong Dr.. . . , just not mine. ha. So as stated earlier, I took Carter to Urgent Care and the Dr. looked at it, had him do a few things, and said he was okay. WELL. . .the next morning I had Carter's 2 year checkup, so while there I asked the Dr. what she thought. I had mentioned to my mom and brother Whitney (who's a Dr. too) and both had insisted that I still get an x-ray. Carter's pediatrician looked at the hand, pushed around on a few spots, and then decided to go ahead and do an X-ray. Yep. He broke a bone. For you anatomy whizzes, it's the metacarpal bone. For everyone else, it's one of the thumb bones, but not the one you associate with the thumb, it's the one in the hand. It has a tiny little fracture, called a buckle fracture. To be honest, you can hardly see it, it just looks like a little indent in his bone.
The doctor put a brace on his hand and set up an appointment to go see the Orthopedic Dr. That was a HORRIBLE appointment. It was in the Children's Hospital and we waited over an hour and a half!!!! NOT KIDDING! to see the Dr. We go back there and the Dr.s all, "Well, do you guys want to keep the brace on, or do you want a cast?" Seriously? Um. . .isn't it your job to decide? What do we know? In the end it was decided we would just keep the brace on. He goes back in 2 weeks for a new x-ray to see if it's healed. Keep your fingers crossed. The dent was so tiny, I'm sure it'll be good by then. So yeah, we left the Dr.'s office 10 min. later. An an hour and a half plus wait for a 10 min. appointment. Sweet.

So there you have it. That's what's been happening here. Bo goes camping tomorrow with Carter and some men in the ward with their kids. It's a bishopric/ward clerk campout with their kids. Fine with me. I'm going to a Twilight Party that one of the other clerks wife's throwing. I'm way excited. I'm taking my delicious spinach-artichoke dip and can't wait. We're going to discuss the books, the upcoming book, and the movie, and maybe other things. hah!
Yeah, Carter isn't fazed at all by his hand. He's as happy as can be.

Pictures of the Last Week

So my dad came to visit for a few days last week. It was really fun but sad because he was here for only 3 and a half days. We had tons of fun. Monday was spent getting the newest member of my family, our freezer!!! YAY! I love this baby! I'm soooo excited. I've been wanting to get one for awhile now, and my dad was there to help me! Dads are the best. Thanks Dad!

Tuesday was spent going to the livestock show in Houston. It was great. My dad has been wanting to go for a long time, so it was fun taking him. We saw cows, horses, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, pig races, little 4 year olds having sheep races (that was funny!), and so much more including pony rides and the petting zoo. It was a busy day. We got lunch there, and my dad ate gator. Bo and I tried it. It was. . . interesting. I also had the best ice cream cone. Yum. We spent about 6 hours there and then headed off to Costco to get things to fill up my freezer. I'm in heaven!! I LOVE Costco.
Wednesday we spent touring Galveston. We took my dad on a ferry ride and looked at old historic buildings. I was bummed because I wanted him to see the wild dolphins. We got a glimpse of them off in the distance, but that was all. That night Bo took my Dad to the Houston Temple, which was great fun for my dad.

Thursday my dad left at about noon. We were able to hang out some more together and then on the way to the airport we stopped at Cavenders Boot City and bought him some new shoes. It was a great trip. I love my dad and was glad he was able to come. Next week I have my sister in law coming, and then a week after that my Mom. March is going to be fun!

Left : Us at the Pig Races. Carter looks funny.

To the right is Carter watching the cows.

Below is Carter and my Dad in the petting zoo. They had the cutest little baby goats.

Carter had the best time in the Petting Zoo. He kept trying to feed this poor goat sawdust and random grass. It was so funny. The goat just ignored him and kept chewing whatever it was chewing.

He's okay!

Phew! I took him into Urgent Care this morning and the Dr. took a look at him. She made Carter squeeze her finger, pick up my purse, and a few other things and then announced that he was okay! She said that his hand would be too hard to X-ray, and that he seemed perfectly fine. YAY! I am going to the Pediatrician tomorrow for Carter's well child checkup, and I'll tell them what happened (my mom insists somethings wrong, and my brother, a Dr., says I should still insist on an X-ray just in case), but I'm relieved. Thanks for all of your comments and support!
