A quote from Carter

(What Carter does when left to his own devices in his room)

I want to try and post more of Carter's sayings. He says funniest things, or at least Bo and I get a kick out of them.---humor us.

"My heart grows way, WAY big, because I eat my candy." --he says this while eating Sweet Hearts.

One of my favorite Carter saying is "last night ago" which usually means the other day.

Carter-"Ponce a-Ponce a time"
Cassidy-"No, it's Once Upon a Time"
Carter-"ohhh, Once a-ponce a time"
Cassidy-smacks her own forehead

The Manns

As mentioned on the previous post, our friends, the Manns, came to visit last weekend. It was so good seeing them!! Unfortunately I didn't get too many pictures. While they were here we played Rock Band, went to the park, went to a parade, had a barbeque, and pretty much let the kids run wild. It was great!! We love it when friend visit us!! *hint, hint*

Mardi Gras

I just don't get this "holiday". I don't. One of my Young Women, who goes to Catholic school all-knowingly informed me that the point of it was so that every body could get all of the bad stuff out in preparation for Lent. WHAT??? Does this make any sense to you? To me, seeing all the stuff going on here, makes it sound just like an excuse to "eat, drink, and be merry." It sorta seems like by doing all that bad stuff and then doing something good like Lent, makes it kinda cancel each other out. I thought the point of Lent was to make yourself better. Of course, I'm not Catholic, and so I might also be way off base. I DO recognize that half of the people out there partying the night away are probably not the most devout of Christians. And I really do like the idea of Lent, just not the stuff that seems to go on before.

I guess I just don't agree with the idea that because someone is going to give up something, it is okay for their behavior and their thinking that flashing someone to get beads, walking around drunk and everyone thinking its awesome, talking crudely, and just about everything else rude is OKAY.

With that being said, I'll get off my little soap box.
My friends, the Manns, came last weekend to visit and to see the firetruck Mardi Gras parade. It was so fun having them. We played, chatted, and ate yummy food. The only disappointing thing was the lack of beads from the parade (no flashing involved--this was a rated G one). Usually Carter comes away with TONS. This year the only one he got was given to him by a lady after the parade was over. Luckily he wasn't too disappointed. Thanks to the Manns for coming to visit!!!

Spidermen Don't Get Sick!

Carter is obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED, with Spiderman.
He has two Spiderman shirts, which are worn almost every day. If I can't wash them fast enough, you can find him digging in the dirty laundry for them. He loves them that much.
Last week I took the kids to Dr. for check ups and Carter ran inyo another little boy who was also wearing a Spiderman shirt. Carter was so excited! He hurried and unzipped his jacket so he could reveal his Spiderman shirt too. He ran up to the little boy and both just looked and admired each other's Spiderman apparel. Really. The little boy even said, "That's cool!!!" hahaa. I have a Spiderman song that Carter has me play all the time. He'll then run around the house singing, "Spiderman, spiderman," while holding his hand out pretending to shoot his web.
So here comes the "Spidermen Don't Get Sick" title.
Late last week I was scrubbing my shower. I had sprayed Tilex and the fumes were a little overpowering. While cleaning, Carter came into the bathroom asking me why it smelled. I proceeded to tell him that I was cleaning and that I didn't want him in the room because I didn't want the chemicals to make him sick. He left with no comment. Seriously TEN MINUTES LATER he comes running into the room and tells me "Mom, SPIDERMEN DON'T GET SICK."
Huh.
What was I supposed to say to that?
Boys.

Happy Birthday Carter!!

Carter had his fourth birthday a few weeks ago. Yes, that's right, I am just barely getting around to doing this. I actually tried blogging it last week, but for some reason my pictures wouldn't upload. We're good now.
Since Carter's birthday was right after we came back from Christmas, instead of planning a big party, we just sort of had an impromptu party at Chuck E Cheese. Carter was in heaven! We invited a few friends last minute who were in town and had ourselves a blast. I loved that it was just so easy. The only drawback to the party was that it was on a Saturday and there were a billion kids. There were probably like 10 birthday parties going on too. It was a tad crazy. Oh well.
The next day, Sunday the 10th, was Carter's actual birthday. We had Carter open his presents then, along with having his birthday cake. We invited the Smiths back over to help eat the cake, because there was no way we would've eaten that cake by ourselves. . . .. okay maybe we could've and would've, but we SHOULDN'T, so the Smiths took one for the team and came and helped us.
That cake was sooooo good. I did brownies on the bottom, then toasted marshmallows, then chocolate frosting, then ground up oreo's to make it look like dirt. To finish it off I buried gummy worms in it. Carter was impressed. Shoot, I was impressed. :) And like I said, it was GOOD.
Carter got action figures, clothes, a remote control car from my parents, v-tech games from Bo's mom, play-doh, and a light saber and cars from Milo Smith. Yes, Carter scored big time.
Happy Birthday Carter!!! I can't believe my baby is already 4. FOUR. Really? Where did the time go?? I love that crazy boy.

MUCH better

My kids slept in till 8 and 8:30!!!! Sweet. They DO love me.
I found some great deals at Target today. Clothes on the clearance rack because they're winter ones. Fine with me, they'll be perfect next year. You can't top buying cute pants for $1.75 or an awesome sweater for $3.50. Nope. I love that. I'm waiting a little longer to see if some other things are going to be marked down any more.
I got the kids new shoes today. Carter is now the proud owner of Spiderman shoes. Why yes, they are lovely. I actually don't like them, in case you couldn't tell, but I figure, if he loves them that much, and they make him happy, than whatever. I'm learning to chose my battles. He LOVES superheroes. And I guess I should add the shoes were $3.50. I love Payless. Meg got some adorable silver mary jane converse looking shoes. Girls are so fun to shop for!
So we're doing better here, we're all alive and healthy, and at the moment we're all still "best friend heroes"--Carter.
Now I'm just waiting for Bo to get home. He was supposed to be home 2 hours ago, but apparently there are a million babies being delivered at the hospital, so they haven't let him off yet. WOW.
Hope you all have a good Saturday!
